trouble with flash player install

I get the message that flash player 10 has been installed (no error messages), but it doesn't work and it doesn't show the MB size of the program when you go to add/remove programs.     I have Windows Vista 32 bit, using explorer 8-----have disabled the pop-up blocker.       Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

I gave up and downloaded the beta Adobe Flash Player 11. Everything seems to be working now. Fingers crossed.

I have never been so frustrated in my life. I've attempted to install the latest Adobe Flash Player version at least a dozen times.

It says it's installed, but it isn't. Nothing works, and I have no idea what to try next.

    Good luck finding an answer.

    try downloading Adobe Shockwave first

Already had Shockwave installed. I'm pretty alarmed that Adobe hasn't bothered to fix this issue. Baffling.

Can you be a little bit more specific what "doesn't work" means?

What files do you have in C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash ?

On IE8, Tools, Add-ons, can you see Shockwave Flash Object, and is it enabled?
