Trying to find the URL used when installing Flash player via ActiveX pop-up

I'm trying to determine what URL would be used when a customer clicks on the Activex Pop-up to install Flash player.

I've found a document that indicates the URL used when updating Flash Player via the Auto updater, but I think they are different URLs....  Can anyone help?

Hi, it appears the website is not detecting that you have Flash Player Installed at all or at least the Shockwave Flash Object is not Enabled.

Go to Tools, Manage add ons and look for it under "Show" if you are using IE8. Look in All add ons and Run without Permission.

    Make sure it is Enabled.

I have an appt now and will check back this afternoon.

    Thanks,

    eidnolb,

Thanks for the reply, however, I do not need assistance with installing Flash Player, but rather am trying to determine the URL that is used when a client clicks on that Activex Prompt to install/update Flash Player.  I get the pretty installation window that comes up, but without any kind of traffic sniffer here at my location, I have no idea where the client is getting the update from.

The compnay I work for is trying to prevent associates from upgrading FlashPlayer beyond a specific version (there are incompatabilities with several web-based Client/Host applications we use), and along with other methods, are going to "black-list" specific URLs in our Proxy, so our clients cannot get to the web-site to perform the upgrades.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

Hi, thanks for the explanation. I'm sure you are aware that to Install Flash Player you must be the Administrator and use that Account. When Installing from a website, I don't recall without doing some searching. Adobe has several sites for Installing Flash Player and then the manual links. Unless users have Permission rights, Installation would be prevented regardless which URL they would use.

I am not sure how or even if Flash Player works using a Proxy.

Pat will most likely be able to give you more information on this and will be on later this evening. And if there is another way to accomplish what you want, I'm sure he would know.

    Thanks,
