Trying to install Flash Player

Windows 7 with IE 11.  I'm trying to install FP 25 for Internet Explorer - ActiveX but get a failed to register error each time.  I have also tried to install the msi version but get a 1722 error.  Any help would be great because I cannot open open Articulate Storyline without it.

    Shared Files - Acrobat.com

I added the updated Logs and renamed them to show the ending of System32 and SysWOW64.  When looking for the registry entries the only entry that was listed is HKCR\Wow6432Node\Interface\{299817DA-1FAC-4CE2-8F48-A108237013BD.  I have added that image below.  All others are in the registry.

Thank you for the screenshot and log files.  I'd like for you to try a few more things and provide another file.

    • Run ProcessMonitor during installation and obtain log file:
      1. Download Process Monitor from this location Process Monitor.
        • This will download a zip file containing the standalone utility, extract the contents to the Desktop
      2. Launch Process Monitor (procmon.exe)
      3. Launch Flash Player installer and proceed with the installation
      4. When installation fails acknowledge any error dialog windows (if any) and close out of the installer dialog window
      5. Go back to Process Monitor
      6. On the File menu, click Save to save the Process Monitor log file
      7. Under Events to save, click to select the All events check box
      8. Under Format, click to select the Native Process Monitor Format (PML) check box
      9. In the Path box, specify a location on the local hard disk where you want to save the file
      10. Upload the Process Monitor log file to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document
      11. How to share a documentPrivate message me the URL to the uploaded file.
        • To send a private message, click on my user name link and then on the 'Message' button link.  Include a link to this discussion topic

    • Right-click on the installation file and select 'Run as administrator'
    • If the 'Run as Admin' doesn't work, are you running a/v software?  If so, disable the a/v software and try the installation again

    • If neither of the above work, run Microsoft's SubInACL tool to reset the permissions on the registry and file-system.  This blog post has instructions on running the SubInACL tool to fix permissions.
      • It's advisable to back-up your system prior to running this tool.

    Hi mitchw774

Failed to register errors usually indicate a permissions issue with the registry and/or file system that is preventing the Flash Player ActiveX from registering correctly.  I'll need to review the FlashInstall.log file to get more information on the failure.  The FlashInstall.log file is saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash.  If this is a 64-bit system, there's another FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash.  Both files are required from a 64-bit OS.  Please upload the file(s) to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded file in your reply.

    Thank you

Both files provided are from the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash.  Please provide the FlashInstall.log file from the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory.

    Thank you.
