Unable to install Adobe Flash

I got a message my Adobe Flash was outdated, so I downloaded the newest file and tried to run it without success.  I get a window that says Installer will start shortly.....and nothing ever happens.  So I uninstalled Adobe and tried again.  No deal.  Can't find any guidance in the forums, so I need help.  I am using Firefox browser.  Thanks so much in advance.
