Unable to install latest version of Flash Player

Operating MacBook Pro with El Captain 10.11.5

Tried installing from Safari and from Firefox. Absolutely no luck.

App icon just bounces, finally stops and give "App Not Responding" message.

Been trying for two days to install. Hopeful someone here can help!

A bouncing app that won't launch usually indicates an issue with the system.  Does this happen to other applications or just the Flash Player installer?  A few troubleshooting suggestions:

  • Have you rebooted your system recently?  If not, reboot (make sure the 'reopen windows when logging back in' checkbox is not selected) and try the installation again
  • Run Disk Utility to check if there are issues with the disk.  If so, fix them.
  • Reboot in safe mode and attempt to install while in safe mode
  • Resolving Problems with OS X 10.11.4   While it references 10.11.4, some of the troubleshooting tips may be of assistance.
