Unable to solve Flash Player problem

I have Windows 8.1 but have problems viewing occasional video and text files.

I have tried updating it, and get this message

Flash Player is integrated with Internet Explorer in Windows 8.

You do not need to install Flash Player.

Any advice would be appreciated.
