Hi all,

I uninstalled Mozilla and now I can't get Flash Player to work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but the logs keep saying it's installed under Mozilla.

How do I make the download work for IE 7?

I changed it to my default browser but still can't get it to install.

    Correct answer

    I have Windows XP SP3 32 bit.

The Shockwave Flash Object is not there. How do I get it?

Hi, the SFO is Installed when Flash Player is Installed. Failure can be for a couple of reasons. If you didn't receive any error messages then it is due to not using the Administrator Account, an Anti-Virus blocked this as it is an ActiveX Control or Registry Issues with Permissions. The Flash Player Installer writes to the Windows Registry so sometimes there are errors there and the Installer could not Install it due to that.

There is a virus that has been reported here which is AntiVirus8 or AV8. Have you had any virus problems? This virus sets a Kill-bit on the exact key in the Registry that the FP Installer needs to write to.

You can take a look in the Registry if you like. Pat has put up a thread, which is: http://forums.adobe.com/post!reply.jspa?thread=782435

Please check this so we can rule this out.

Hi, Regarding FF, there are certain procedures to follow when Uninstalling it. You can check on the Mozilla site for that.

On Installing Flash Player in IE:

Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:

    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Download and SAVE the FP IE Installer to your Desktop:  Use the one for Windows/Internet Explorer  EXE Installer

    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

Use the Administrator Account -A Must.

Disable any msn/aol/yahoo messenger services in the system tray(area near the clock)

After that, then CLOSE all browser Windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop

You may need to disable any Anti-Virus until FP is Installed.

RUN the Uninstaller and when it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer

RUN the Installer and when it is finished, Reboot your computer

Restart you Anti-Virus if needed, then test here. You should be able to see the Flash logo animate(spin) and the version of Flash Player will be displayed. test the browser here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

    Thanks,

Hi, Look in your IE Tools, Manage addons for Shockwave Flash Object. This is the ActiveX Control for Flash Player. Make sure it's Installed, Enabled and is the version you just Installed. (10.1.102.64)

You didn't say what your Operating System is, nor if it's a 64bit OS or a 32bit OS. I know you are using the IE7 browser, but that info would be helpful.

    Thanks,
