Unsucessful update installation

I am running Windows XP System 32 svc pak 2 with Firefox browser.  I am repeatedly asked to update Adobe Flashplayer and when prompted, download the install.exe file, which downloads perfectly.  After repeated attempts, the install.exe file will not open.  Absolutely no response to double-click.  Crickets.

Hi,

You experiencing this issue because Flash Player deliverable is Sha-256 certificate signed and XP SP2 does not support sha-256 signing technology. This was implemented from XP SP3 onwards. We recommend you to upgrade your OS.
