update notice continues to show up for EOL product

Received an update notice for Flash Player, hit update and then I'm sent to the EOL page for Flash. This happens over and over. Is there a way to make it stop or should I try to uninstall the program. This is on a Mac, OS version 14.

Suggestions?

Cheers,

David

As OP said, Flash Player won't end-of-life until the end of 2020, however Apple dropped support for it in Safari 14.  If you're only browser is Safari and you don't need Flash Player, then go ahead and uninstall it (uninstaller posted at https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html).  If you do need Flash Player then it's still supported on Firefox and you can use that on macOS.

<Edit>

The update notification launches the default browser, if Safari is your default browser, this is why you're being redirected to the EOL faq page.  If you do want to continue using Flash Player on Firefox, launch Firefox and navigate to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download the latest version.

Hi @hdkurland ,

Can you please share the page url which opens up. Is there any ad-blocker enabled in your default browser?
Did you see download button and did you install the build if you were able to download it?

You mean mac OS 10.14, Mojave? If you upgraded to Safari 14, then one of Apple's exciting new features is that it blocked Flash forever. However, if Flash Player is still on the system it's still going to try to update, as Adobe's EOL is not for another 10 weeks. I suggest you uninstall if you don't desperately need it for the next 10 weeks.
