specify your operating system (including 32bit or 64bit); Windows XP Service Pack 3, but I don't know how to check what bit.

  • specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit); IE-7 says 128bit.
  • specify your Flash Player version (check http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html); You have version 10,1,82,76 installed
  • do not use existing topics to append questions that are entirely different from the original topic

I've read some of the similar discussions, but they get complicated and so user specific, I decided to start my own.  I got an upgrade notification this morning and accepted it, but now I cannot view videos from my regular news site.

I can't figure out how to paste screenprints of the other info requested in the other discussions (filenames in the folders), but I was able to at least confirm that my shockwave add on is enabled.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, very nice that you included your system info:-) Looks like you have a 32bit system. After you received the prompt from Adobe to upgrade the Flash Player, did you remember to Reboot(restart) your computer? I received a prompt this morning also and I think(IIRC) it said a reboot was not necessary? I Reboot anyway, whenever I Uninstall or Install.

What with 14 Windows Patch Tuesday Updates, I may have things mixed up tho.

Screenshots are nice when needed but most of the time we can figure it out, so that's ok. Now you checked your Shockwave Flash Object in add ons and is it the Object? The reason I ask is because if you  also have Shockwave Player Installed, it also has a Shockwave Flash Active X Control, but different than the one with Object.

Also, after that, go to youtube or any Flash video, right click on it and click on Settings. Then you should see Display Settings and turn off the hardware acceleration feature. See if that helps.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Yes, rebooted.

    Yes, object.

When I went to FoxNews to check my settings, the darn video started this time!?! ARGH, I have been fighting this all day and finally find a support forum and now it works?!  Can we just continue a few more minutes to make sure my setting are all correct?  Something has been preventing me from seeing videos all day.

    Yes, turned off hardware acceleration.

Another issue I have (now that the thing is working I guess I'll ask about improvements) is that my videos are choppy and stop and stutter and often pause for buffering.  Anything I can do to fix/improve that?

    Thanks!

Hunter, you know the _______(fill in the blank) always works when the repairman arrives We can continue with whatever you want. Whenever Flash Player issues come up, the radius is ever expanding:-) And I must say, it is those things in the radius that causes issues.

I don't know if you have found this to occur, but after an Installation of a new program, whether Windows Updates, Anti-Virus  or some other program it seems it takes time for all of the "new kid on the block" to work with the rest of the system. I have even found rebooting again helps things settle down.

The videos being choppy, etc. We can check your Flash files to make sure they are correct. Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash   Open Flash and post back all files listed there. You didn't say you used any browser except IE so you shouldn't have those files. However, just in case, if you see any NPSWF files listed, right click on them and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

Also post back what Anti-Virus program you have Installed as sometimes a component or add on will conflict.

    Thanks,
