Using Win7, IE 10, HP desktop.  Just today no sound but video ok.  Sound is ok with all other programs on this computer.  I updated Flash Player, removed cookies and temp. files, rebooted, still no sound.

What now?  Flash version 11.8.800.175

You're replying to a post that is almost 6 years old and most likely no longer relevant.

Th OP mentions YouTube, YouTube no longer uses Flash, so if the issue is with with video on YouTube, it's not Flash related.

If it is Flash video, please start a new discussion topic with and include the following information:

  • Operating system version
  • Web browser and version
  • Flash Player version
  • Explain your problem in step-by-step detail if possible
  • A direct link to a web page that demonstrates the problem
  • If you get error messages, please provide a screenshot

It was just suggested on another forum to check the sound icon on the utube clip (float mouse over volume).  Mine was turned all the way down.  This same thing has happened to others.   Problem solved.

Google has acknowledged a "glitch" in their YouTube code that caused this. There is NOTHING you can do to Flash Player about it. They are working on a fix for it this week, but you have to manually set volume in the meantime.

From Google:

Thanks for your patience, all. We have been aware of this issue. It should be resolved soon.

While this issue is live, please try clearing your browser's cache and cookies.

The mute will keep coming back for each video you watch, but you can get your sound back each time by pausing the video, right clicking the little X by the speaker symbol and then clicking the speaker symbol itself.  Then start the video again.  Kind of a pain, but at least you can hear the videos until the problem is fixed.
