Browser / Version: Firefox 44.0
Operating System: Windows 10
Problem type: Something else - I'll add details below

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Navigate to: http://www.vgtv.no/#!/video/125013/sjekk-mgp-paa-tegnspraak
  2. Play video

Expected Behavior:

Smooth playback with Flash player

Actual Behavior:

About 2 frames per second.

Works fine using: Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge

Also reproduced using Linux

Already tried:

  • Disable hardware acceleration in Flash (next to impossible to do, as the UI doesn't register mouse clicks in the settings box)
  • Disable hardware acceleration in FireFox
  • Update Nvidia drivers to latest version (Nvidia GTX 960, driver 361.91)
  • Reinstall flash
  • Reinstall flash using Adobe uninstaller
  • Disable protected mode

First things first, disabling protected mode is a terrible idea.

You're far, far better off using the 64-bit Beta for Firefox on Windows 10.  It includes a native Firefox NPAPI sandbox, which replaces Flash Player's bolt-on sandbox for Firefox.

You can grab it here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/beta/all/

I'm not seeing a performance issue on Mac.  I'll take a look with Win10 in a bit.

I'm not able to reproduce this on Win10 with Flash Player 20.0.0.306 and 32-bit Firefox 44.0 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 2.  It's working fine for me.

Again, Flash on 64-bit Firefox is more efficient from a CPU contention perspective.  If it's not a transitory network issue that's causing the poor video playback performance, I'd give that a shot.  Also, if you haven't rebooted since experiencing the issue, that's always a good first place to start.  At minimum, you know that you're collecting data from a reasonable baseline.

I am seeing the problem with 64bit Firefox as well.
