Question

Viewing Flash in IE on a Mac not possible???

My problem occurs when trying to use the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser to view certain websites on my Macintosh. (I have no problems with Safari & Firefox.) When I attempt to view the page on IE, I do not see the website, only a message saying "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player." Under that, it has the 'Get Adobe Flash Player' icon, then under that it says 'Get Adobe Flash player'. (Other than what I just described, there is no error message.)  I therefore went and installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, and completed the steps until it said that I had apparently 'successfully installed' the latest version of Adobe Flash Player for my Mac. But when I returned to the (refreshed) web page in the IE browser, I still got the same original message: "Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player." Under that, it has the 'Get Adobe Flash Player' icon, then under that it says 'Get Adobe Flash player'.

Please help! My need to view Flash files with the IE browser is a necessity.

Is there any version of Adobe Flash Player that will work on the Internet Explorer browser on a Mac????

Hi, I'm a long time Mac user from Pismo Beach CA and confronted a similar issue about a week ago, and I only went on this site to see if there was a way to resolve a flash player issue. It is fixed now, and I can view all video;  although I only use Internet Explorer at work. Several friends also suddenly encountered this problem (blank screens) in the last two weeks here in CA, who also own Macs, and this solution worked for them too....  There was an email from someone from this forum, so I came back for a minute and noticed your post.

Good luck, maybe there is a configuration issue, but any which way, the problem seems to be resolved in the prereleased version of Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

On this site in "Communities" is the "Adobe Lab"

Simply download and install the prereleased version of Adobe Flashplayer 10.1.

The released version "10" gave me nothing but headaches.... The site tells you to uninstall first, but I tried it several different ways, just to see what would happen, and it didn't seem to matter.

    Again, Good Luck.

Hi Julie, The only problem I have with your suggestion is the FP and the link that you provide is the Beta. Now I would never recommend anyone with problems with Flash Player already to Uninstall and Install a Beta.

As long as that information is included in your posts so the people that you advise know that the FP you are suggesting is a Beta and they fully understand what a Beta is and it's purpose. A Beta, by it's very nature has bugs in it and does not

perform well. Mostly Developers use Beta's in order to test it and there is a procedure that Adobe has for feedback from

those Developer's and those that want to be involved in testing it.

I have encountered users that post here that have installed Beta's, thinking that was going to solve their problems. However that added to them and then they had to Uninstall it.

Anti-Virus companies, Microsoft, Adobe, etc always have Beta's, but they are not for Public use. Due to that most users avoid them until they have been tested fully and then the Company comes out with the final release for public use.

As long as users understand, then they are free to make a decision. The only thing is that they understand what a Beta

is and not think that it is just another Flash Player version.

Glad it worked for you, but everyone's computer is different due to the many variable involved.

Hi, Using the IE browser, go up to Tools and click on Manage add ons(not sure what version of IE you are using), if IE8, then "View and Manage Internet Exlorer add ons". Look for Shockwave Flash Object  ActiveX Control  Flash10e.ocx and make sure it is enabled. It may or not have a version#; the latest FP is 10.0.45.2.

Also test here at Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response eidnolb -

Using the IE browser, when I select Tools, the drop down menu only lists: Track Auction...; Auction Manager; AutoFill Forms; Show Related Links; MSN.COM; MSN Hotmail; and Encarta Online.
I am using IE6. I went to download IE8, but all the operating systems to chose from are various versions of Windows. And yes, the FP I apparently successfully installed is 10.0.45.2.
    Any other suggestions?
