I have a Sony Vio operating Vista and I have been trying and failing to complete a successful installation of any version of Flash Player. I get through the installation with no errors, but then I cannot find the program on the CPU. the file executes to install immedately and it looks like it is installing...asks for various permissions for active X, but then the completion vidoe never appears and when I look in program files I only see the associated active X download and not the actual Flash Player. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

    Hi Hrm14-
FP won't show up in "Programs", it's way down in the System 32 folder. C/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash.
You should see FlashUtil10x and Flash10x.ocx ("10x" varies, could be "10a" etc.), and 2 other files.
In Control Panel/Programs and Features you should see "Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX"
It's important that you do this download/install logged on as Admn, and remain online for the entire installation.
Also turn off Windows Defender for the installation.
At the bottom of this page click on "Adobe Support", Download help, Flash Player Support. You'll see info on help with a Windows & Windows Vista installation. FP10 is causing some difficulty for some, you may want to consider installing FP9 instead, and upgrading to 10 later- your choice.

I am having the exact same problem and I tried everything on the troubleshooting page. Adobe Flash Player 10 Active X shows up in the control panel, but when I search for the program it does not show up. I could not fing the System 32 folder anywhere on my computer. Any ideas?
