Question

What file do I need to associate with a .swf file?

I used to execute .swf on my computer in the past.  Now it does not work.  I tried to troubleshoot what file that was associated with and found Adobe Acrobat (that I have not changed since the last time I used it).  So I associated it with Flash Pro 6 and that did not work.  I associated it with the Adobe Media Player and that was not what I wanted.  I have installed the Flash Player (at least four times) from www.adobe.com.  I read the different forum questions and found to locate the C:/Windows/System32/Macromed/Flash, so I did that and found all it located was the installation .exe file.  Of course that did not work.  The .swf file and its associated files are located in C:/Flash/bubbles folder and was published with the ./bubbles setting.

I have:

MS Windows7

Flash Pro CS6

So how do I execute a .swf created from Flash Pro CS6 without having to open Flash Pro CS6, like a user would experience?

Found the answer from the internet.  Was not to use an association with the .swf file.

As I have written earlier, the Flash Player Projector (flashplayer_11_sa.exe) needs to be associated with .swf files; works perfectly on my computers.

You can use Flash Player Projector to play local .swf files; download it from http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Note that the download is the projector itself, not an installer, so you will need to make the file association manually.

Could not find the "flash player" file to associate it to it.  Download the flash player at least three times (oh, by the way I already had it installed).  Searched on it on the computer, all I found was the executable for the installer.  Even tried to google the location and followed their instructions and it was not there, so where is it?  I have Window 7.

Where did you download it to?  On Windows 7, by default it is usually a 'Downloads' folder under your user profile.  Move it to C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash (or C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash if you are on a 32-bit system), so you know where it is.

    The filename, b.t.w. is flashplayer_11_sa.exe
