when i updated flash player, the installation routine apparently also installed WHITE SMOKE pukeware

Updating FLASH PLAYER somehow installed garbage software that created a WHITE SMOKE tool bar but also has much worse effects.    Opening a PDF now kills my explorer.     And i have ads popping up all over ... even on this adobe help page.    Video with sound that i can't even clobber.     Fake links that turn out to be ads.   Has this happened to other people?
