Why does active x create so many security issues on my computer?

I was wondering why active x is associated with so many security threats on mt computer? Wden ever I allow it to be downloaded sooner or later I find it associated with some type of threat like fpupdateax.

ActiveX is not a security threat, although it allows them if exploited. It's an antiquated technology that the clowns at Microsoft just can't seem to let go of. Internet Exploder is the ONLY browser that still uses it, and that, among about a million other things, makes it the worst possible choice for a browser anyone can ever make. IE doesn't handle javascript without tweaking and then you have to approve EVERYTHING it does, because IE is FULL of security holes. IE doesn't handle a lot of CSS properties like gradients, and text shadows, so compared to Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari, it's just plain vanilla. A lot of plugins won't work with the 64 bit version of IE so people have to run the 32 bit version to get anything done.

Thank you for your insight. So I assume you would dump IE and choose another way to the internet like firefox ect?
