An associate is having a problem when a website attempts to run Flash10e.ocx in Shockwave Flash Object.  Internet Explorer 7 is the browser being used on a computer running Windows XP Professional SP2.  I've updated to Flash Player 10.0.45.2 but the problem persisits.  I've disabled the add-on but would like to find a solution.  Can you help?

Hi, Flash10e.ocx is the ActiveX Control and is version 10.0.45.2 and is needed for Flash Player to work with the Flash files that are installed on the computer. Are you saying a particular website is causing a problem? You updated to version 10.0.45.2; are you speaking of the one and same computer (XP/SP2)? You deleted this add on?

Please clarify for me since I'm not clear on this.

    Thanks,

There are two websites that I know of which cause this problem to occur, one was the NOAA website.  I'm not sure what the other is and whether there are others besides.  I did the update on my associates computer (XP/SP2) after this started happening.  I did not delete the add-on but I did disable it.

Hi, ok thank you:-) Ok, first of all the Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx MUST be enabled. Now can you confirm that "Flash10e.ocx" is listed? This the the latest version of Flash Player (vs10.0.45.2) Normally a website would not throw an error, but IE would, possibly as a result of something not working correctly on the website.

There could be a couple of reasons. The SFO is not the correct version, the website may not support the latest version of Flash Player. The Flash Player files may not be correct.

When you say you did the update, you mean you updated the Flash Player to the latest version? Did you run the Adobe

Uninstaller first to remove the old Flash Player version? This is necessary as Adobe does not remove the old versions when you Install the new.

    Thanks,
