Question

Why doesn't a specific URL work on one PC & not another?

Using Adobe Flash Player 10 downloaded today.

I have two DELL laptops of different models. Both have Windows 7. The following URL works on one and not the other.

     http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/begin/cells/scale/

Slide the slider to the right and the picture will zoom in to magnify the  objects. That works on the Inspiron Mini with W7 Starter version.

The slider does not work on the Dell Studio 15 laptop with W7 Professional version. Actually, the zoom does happen but only at certain slider locations about 3/8 inches apart. The locations are about 1 pixel wide and must be found by trial and error. Move off that pixel and the picture pops back to its original size.

Advice will be appreciated,

Stan Hilliard

    Updating my post:

The problem I described above used was while running the same Firefox 3.6.3 on both laptops -- one working and the other not. The slider works correctly while running IE 8 on both laptops.

It works fine on my own Firefox installation with FP 10.0.45.2

The only thing I can suggest that you uninstall Firefox and Flash Player on the machine where it's not working, then install again.  To make sure that FP is uninstalled completely, use the uninstaller from http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_14157_en-us; make sure that all browser windows are closed when you run the uninstaller.

P.S. very impressive that little Flash demo

Thanks for the idea. Using your links, I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and reinstalled it. This was on the laptop in which the slider failed on firefox and worked on IE. After installation, with Firefox the web page showed  "click here to download plugin." So I installed the add-on which enabled the graphic to display. This even though I had already re-installed Flash Player. The slider still does not work.
