Question

Win 7 Flash 10.3 Viewer screen too small both IE8 and Chrome.

I have a hp pavilion p6680t pc with Win7 home premium no service pack

All products are up to date.

Currently running latest version of flash 10.3

I noticed that on SOME sites the viewer screen it too small, most display the correct size.

For example when I go to here NOAA doppler enhanced radar image site

here http://http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=GSP&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

If you go on the left hand side of the page you will see "reflectivity" and see selections for composite and loop.

When you select the composite view (no flash) still you get the correct size rendering if you select loop (flash enabled ) the size of the flash viewer is about 40% smaller.

I have tried to use the ctrl to increase the size the rest of the page will increase in size but the flash viewer screen will stay the same size...

again not all sites will have this issue ..youtube for example renders correctly .

I checked out my old Win xp home sp3 with flash 10.3 and have no issues both screens are the exact same size.

Anything I'm missing?

Thanks

Your URL is incorrect; this goes to the actual site http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=GSP&product=N0R&overlay=11101111&loop=yes

Unfortunately I do not (yet) have Windows 7, so I cannot see the problem you see.  But what I would try in your case:

    • install Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    • update the device drivers for your display adapter

Thanks for your quick reponse Pat!

Using  IE8 and Google Chrome both browsers are up to date.

I posted on sevenforums as well and the response from their was that java needed to be enabled for this site...but I was pretty sure that NOAA said they were exclusively using flash after 2009 or so. Usually when you are visiting a site that requires java you will get the little java icon in the taskbar as well and when I use the page with my old win xp  pc it see no evidence that the site is using any java applets. (no evidence of icon in task bar)

just some additional info the video and basic data displayed from flash on the win 7 pc looks perfect in everyway, the only issue is the size of the viewer screen,..

I will check out the display drivers and I will also have to get back to you because the win 7 pc is at my folks home, but I do know that it is t he latest version there is for Win 7 home 32 bit ie8 browser and google chrome is also the latest version available.

It might be a few days before I can give you updated info.

    Thanks

    Bill

    Or perhaps they meant JavaScript?
