Windows 7 said it had a problem with my flash player that was working and it uninstalled flash player.  So I tried to go download the newest flash player.  I get the message 64 bit  not supportted you have to run in a 32 bit browser and it won'w download.  So I make sure I have an IE 8 32 bit browser open and try to download again and I still get the same message.  Not sure what to do.  I defintely do NOT have the 64 bit browser open.

Thanks,

    Correct answer

    Those steps worked thank you.

Hi, It sounds like you didn't have any problems, which is good. Just be sure to check your files, so you know everything is installed correctly.

Also marking your thread answered helps other people that may have the same problem and would benefit from reading it.

    Thanks for the feedback.

These are the files in the SysWow64/Macromed/flash directory:

    FlashInstall

    flashplayer.xpt

    FlashUtil10e_plugin

    FlashUtil10h_plugin

    install

    NPSWF32.dll

under manage add ons is:  Adobe Shockwave ActiveX Control enabled version 11.5.1

    Thanks for your help, Robin

Hi, Thanks for the info. What you have is a mix of IE Flash files and either Firefox or (other browsers).

The Shockwave ActiveX Control vs 11.5.1 is not the Shockwave Flash Object that is the AcitveX Control for Flash Player.

This is the ActiveX Control for Shockwave Player.

Since I will be giving you instructions for an Uninstall of Flash Player, I need some info.

Do you have or want Firefox or another browser running Flash Player? If so I need to know that.

Also, what Anti-Virus/Spyware do you use and does it contain a Firewall? If not, do you have any third party Firewall other than Windows Firewall?

Please check in Tools>Internet Options and click on the Security Tab and set it to Medium for the Internet Zone.

With this information, I'll be able to better advise you of the correct procedure.

    Thanks,

I only plan on using IE.

I use Norton Internet Security and Spybot search and destroy and Windows Defender.  Norton has a firewall and Windows firewall.  I think both are turned on but I'm not positive.  I know Norton is.

Security tab is set to medium-high

    Thanks again,

Hi, I'm not sure what happened. Let's take a look and see what you have installed of Flash Player. Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash   Right click on Flash and post back all files listed there.

Then go to manage add ons (All add ons) and see if Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx is listed and also enabled. If it is not listed or if it is not Flash10e.ocx but another version, I need to know that.

    Thanks,
