Windows 7: repeated/persistent "failed to register" error on install.

Have tried the "subinacl.exe" / "reset_fp[xx].bat" routine to reset.

Not working.

My specific circumstance: Flash will not run in Facebook.  Have

uninstalled Flash.  Now it refuses to reinstall.  Consistent error

message (after running subinacl and reset, repeatedly) is"

"failed to register."

OS/Processor: Win 7/64-bit

help?

    Hi,

Please post the contents of the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash directory.

Also, it's possible that a different file, that is not included in our reset_fp.cmd file is the culprit.  This Microsoft tech note, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/968003, has information for resetting the permissions on the entire file system.

    Hi Again, Maria,

I found a solution that repaired the "not enough memory error" that I started getting after running the script above found at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/968003

I found the fix here:  http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/solved-services-not-enough-storage-available-to-complete-this-operation-471599-2.html   All I had to do was pull up cmd.exe, type in the following two commands, and then exit and reboot:

net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice [enter]

net localgroup Administrators /add localservice [enter]

On a restart, my OS was back to operating correctly.  But....FlashPlayer was not working (again).   So, I tried installing FlashPlayer again from the Adobe website.  This time it worked (Flash content now plays in my browser), and my OS appears to all be working properly again.   So, again, thanks, although I would say that the above two lines of code probably need to be added at the end of the solution script at the Microsoft Support page to make the solution here complete.

    Thank you, Maria!

Yes.  The link you sent  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/968003 did the trick.

I followed the instrutions there to create and then run the reset.cmd script

posted there.  it took a few minutes to grind through a ton of registry

entries.  But, once it did finish, Flash installed and is functional again.

    many thanks,.

    Hi Keith,

Thank you for confirming resetting the permissions on the entire file system worked.

    Hi  Maria.

But, now, even as Flash is working, I am now encountering a "not enough memory" error that is preventing my audio from working, and is now impairing windows operation (cannot open "control panel" or "computer", from the start menu.  Keeps saying "not enough memory."   Wasn't doing that until I reset the permissions using the reset.cmd script.  ...and can't open system restore because...you got it...there is 'not enough memory"...  yikes, any suggestions on how to adress this?
