Question

Windows 8 64-bit Chrome, no sound on wireless headphones

I'm using wireless headphones. They're fine for iTunes. Windows Media Player, and Skype; but when I'm watching something in the browser which uses Flash, no sound. It's fine with my built in laptop speakers. my external screen speakers, and regular earphones, just not with my wireless headphones. Can anybody suggest what is going on? I have them set to the default audio player, so everything on my computer is going through them!

Sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify the user of HTML5 by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the context menu.

You could also be running into a problem with the Windows mixer.  It's possible that you've muted the output for Chrome.  This will become apparent if both video tests above fail.  To fix this, right-click the speaker icon in the notification area (systray) of your desktop, then click Volume Mixer to open the control.  You'll see a list of programs running.  Then, just use the slider bar to adjust the volume up or down for Chrome.
