Windows Update kb3087916 [August] is installing the DEBUG version of Flash ActiveX into IE11 on (32-bit) Windows 8.1 systems.  This version is generating ActionScript Errors.

It may (or may not) be doing so under other configurations (e.g. 64 bit ?  Windows 10??) --- I don't know.

Uninstalling the update is NOT the solution:    The Windows Update itself needs to be fixed!

Microsoft has officially acknowledged the problem, revising Security Advisory 3087916 on 13 Aug. to version 2.0, noting:

Known issues with this security update

•After you install this security update on a computer that is running Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2, you may receive an error message that resembles any of the following:

              Adobe Flash Player
              An ActionScript error has occurred.

Note This error does not affect the functionality of the security update. The security update still provides the protection that is described in  Microsoft security advisory 2755801

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

    ----------------------------

Still "researching" the problem?   We've already determined the solution! --- They inadvertently distributed the DEBUG version of Flash Player!

I don't have the knowledge in computing as the rest of you do, so bear with me. (please!) I'm having the same issues Security Error #2060, Type Error #1009, Error #2044, 2048, 2021, etc., and after trying everything I can think of I'm at a dead end. Are you saying that this problem is connected to a Microsoft update and that they're aware of it? If so, what should I do? I keep everything I have as current as possible. Will I be informed of some kind of patch or something? In other words, HELP! Any advice would be greatly and sincerely appreciated. These pop ups are driving me crazy! I don't know what to do about them at this point but make a plea for help! Thanks in advance.

Btw, in case any of this info is useful, I'm using Windows 8.1 and IE11. The latest Adobe version installed is 18.0.0.232

    Hi ky331,

We've been informed by Microsoft that this only impacts Windows 8.1.  Unfortunately, we don't have a date as to when they'll release the fix, but it should be soon.
