Hi:

I have three machines running xp, latest version firefox, I already removed the previous version of Flash, tried to remove the ADM, keeps saying I need to close IE to do that, but IE is not running.  When I go to the adobe website and try to download flash player, the ADM window does not come up at all, instead it says I need to install missing plugin that I never heard of.  HELP

Hi, When you refer to ADM are you speaking of the DLM(download manager)? If so don't use that. Instead go to this Troubleshooting Guide and make sure you have all of the IE Settings correct. Also check the Permissions section as you need to use the Administrator Account. Then after Uninstalling, use the Manual Installers. Don't forget to Reboot(restart) your computer after Uninstalling and also Installing.

Once you have made sure the Settings are correct, then you can SAVE the Uninstaller to your Desktop.

Download and SAVE the Manual Installers to your Desktop.

Make sure you disable any applications that use Flash (see system tray-area near the clock) such as MSN messenger or any others.

CLOSE all browsers, then Run the Uninstaller, Reboot, and then Reboot again.

Then Run the IE Installer, then the FF Installer(if you use it, if not don't even put it on your Desktop) Then Reboot.

Go to this test site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If you have any questions, just post.

    Thanks,

Thanks, making sure the IE settings were correct did solve the problem.  We also discovered that opening the missing plug-in file with Firefox also solved the problem.  Thanks for the help!

Hi, glad that was helpful. So many things go into a successful Uninstall and Install and Settings are important as well.

Flash Player, Windows and other browsers all have their own requirements and sometimes they can be overlooked or perhaps are not known of.

Thanks for posting back that it worked for you and marking your thread as answered.
