Windows XP SP3: Flash Player Error

Hi,

Strange issue was hoping for some assistance.

We have a problem where we install Flash Player on our build, it works fine as the user that logs on first. After that any user which logs on it reports a different version of Flash and cycles between uninstall errors when trying to update.

The error is simply "Failed to install".

The most common error is relating to article tn_16199. From here we have tried to remove the users profile, make them a local administrator, cleaned out the registry with tools mentioned in tn_16199. Nothing seems to work, the only way we have found is to rebuild the problem machine.

So the question is, what would make this happen where for a user it works fine and reports version 10 is installed but for another user it reports version 7 and cannot be upgraded.

Thanks in advance,

Martyn!

Hi, In the Adobe troubleshooting link: http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_19166_en-us in item #5, it speaks of Admin.

privileges. The problem you are having is due to that user account does not have Admin. privilege.

This is a permission issue, not a Flash Player issue. Since you have XP, here is a link that you can refer to. In addition

you can use Microsoft to further search for info on this issue.

I have already tried that, my account is a domain admin and a test account is a local administrator which can perform actions of an administrator so certain it's an administrator.

Hi, you stated and I quote "...but for another user it reports version 7 and it cannot be upgraded."

This user account does not appear to have Administrative privileges, otherwise there would be no problem.

That is why I gave you those links that explain how different accounts are set up and what they can and cannot do.

I am the Administrator on my system, but other accounts that I, as the Administrator set up do not have the privileges

needed to Install Flash Player. I have to give that account the Admin. privilege to do so.

Accounts are set up in the beginning and can be changed etc.

If the information you need is not contained in those two links, then I would search Microsoft.com for user account info.

    Thanks,
