Won't download or uninstall w "internet explorer" active. How to deactivate?

Have windows 7 w 64 bit browser, also secondary "internet explorer" which is supposed to be 32 bit. Used to have flash until attempting upgrade.  Now nothing.  See above about deactivating Internet Explorer.

Download the installer to disk, then close Internet Explorer and run the installer.

If you still get a message that Internet Explorer must be closed, check with Task Manager (Processes tab) if iexplore.exe is still active.

A good place to download the installer from is http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
