Question

Wrong version?

Flash seems to be running fine, but I noticed something that just looks odd, so I want someone's opinion on the matter.

From IE8, if I look at the version of FP installed in the Add-ons Manager(Shockwave Flash Object), it states version 9.0.47.  However, what I installed was the debug version 10,2,159,1.  All I want to know is why there is a disparity between these version numbers.

Installed versions:

Win XP 64-bit Professional, SP2

IE 8.0.6001

FP 10,2,159,1, debugger

Thanks,

  Geoff

Hi, You should have FP vs 10.2.159.1 Shockwave Flash Object Installed, not that version you have listed.

Is there some reason you Installed the debugger version? It doesn't really matter, but it does matter what vs that addon is.

Check your C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back all files listed.

    Thanks,

I installed the debugger version because I'm a Flex developer.

The files listed in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory are:

    • Flash10p.ocx

    • FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.dll

    • FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.exe

    • flashplayer.xpt

    • FlashUtil10p_Plugin.exe

    • NPSWF32.dll

    • FlashInstall.log

Here's some more info on what I did.

    1. Ran FP uninstaller.

    2. Rebooted system.

    3. Went to FP download center and got the latest debugger versions.

    4. Installed ActiveX and Plugin versions.

    5. Rebooted (for good measure)

    6. Opened IE8 and looked at the version reported in the add-ons manager.  Still 9.0.47.0.
