You Tube videos no longer work after Flash Player upgrade

I am running Win XP 2002 with SP3 and Firefox 3.6.15.  I just upgraded flash player and now the You Tube videos no longer display.  The You Tube sound works.  IE has not be affected and I can see the You Tube videos.  Firefox does display videos from Netflix and news sites but not You Tube.  Your company wants $39.00 to solve a problem that is the result of your efforts, not mine.  I think that is wrong.  So what do I do so I can resume using Firefox to view You Tube videos?

To eidnolb/anyone else who can help?

I am having a great deal of issues trying to sort out the flash player.  Tried uninstalling/reinstalling the flash player, however I still get the same messages on sites such as youtube, bbc that I do not have the correct version installed and to install version 10.

I notice that you have mentioned to right click the flash symbol and then on to settings on the link page that you provided, unfortunately, all i can see is a plain box with a cross in the top left hand corner, and when i right click, there is no Settings option. i have run malware and other sytem scans and have removed any issues that there might have been, all still to no avail.

Any further help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I posted this same problem a few days ago.

    See http://forums.adobe.com/message/3521299#3521299 for solution.

If it works, please send me a virtual $39.00   !!

Hey BGBF, the person that gave you that is sort of late to the party. We've been suggesting that since way last year. Our way is easier. I got so tired of typing it that I scripted it:

You may want to go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,
then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.

You'll have to admit our way takes a lot less effort, LOL I read the directions he gave you:-)

The reason for this Setting adjustment has to do with the new Techology that came out with the 10.1/10.2 versions and involve StageVideo/hardware acceleration. Some systems can't use it and need to make that adjustment that you did and others as well. Many times the video card drivers need updated as well.

Each person's computer system is different. With the person here, turning off H.A. wouldn't help if the FF browser isn't working:-) There is hardly ever "one fix" fits all with Flash Player, way too many variables.

Good idea though with the $39.00 virtual fee, LOL Maybe instead of "answered" thread we can put that up, Ha-Ha

    Thanks,

    eidnolb,

I followed the link you supplied and right clicked on the logo area.  The box was checked for hardware acceleration so I unchecked it.  I closed out Firefox and re-booted my system.  Then I went to You Tube and everything seems to be working OK now.

I want to thank you for your patience and for your help.  It's too bad that Adobe is so oblivious to the need to test and trouble-shoot updates before they release them.  And then, charge the trusting users $39.00 just to find out that the company caused the problem in the first place.

Again, thanks.  By the way, how did you manage to come up with this solution?

    Anyway...see you around.

Hi, The first thing I would do is go to your FF plugins and make sure the Shockwave Flash plugin is Enabled. Sometimes during an upgrade glitches happen. Whether it's Flash Player, Windows or IE or FF. Just went thru a FF glitch with my Dtr's Vista.

Check that and let me know.

    Thanks,

I appreciate your response. I did, however, check the Flash plugin before I

entered my first msg. It was and is, enabled. There has to be something

else going on with the Flash software and Firefox that Adobe chooses to

    continue to ignore.

By the way, may be you could enlighten me on another subject...if you don't

mind. When I'm on the Adobe site and I am in the forum, how do I respond to

folks like yourself after you enter your response to my forum question. I

saw your response but I could not find a way to respond back to you. If I

had not gotten your msg in my email today, I would still be looking for a

way to respond while in the forum.

    Thanks,
