Question

Before I dive in: RTL support in Flex 3?

Hi all,

I've got a Flex 3 project that needs to have support for right-to-left text added to it. Before I embark on what may be an impossible task I wanted to check if this is

a) at all possible and

b) which release(s) of the Text Layout Framework I should consider

I cannot work out if TLF has some incompatibilities with older Flex SDKs or what the relationship between Flex SDKs and TLF is. I know Flex 4 offers better support for all this, but my easiest option at this stage is to see if the flex 3 project can be retrofitted.

Any pointers that help me get started (maybe: remove this swc, add that swc, don't even try x, y and z etc) would be most helpful.

Many thanks.

Stefan

The playGlobal.swc in Flex 3 and 4 is the most important thing you should pay attention.

TLF is based on FTE, which became part of player since 10.0. So the playGlobal.swc in Flex 3, which is for player 9, is not compatible with TLF.

While, playGlobal.swc in SDK can be replaced. You can replace playerGlobal.swc in SDK3 with the one in Flex 4.

You can find some related discussion on the forum. It seems that no other issues, except playGlobal.swc, are raised.
