Question

Eclipse Helios: Is the Flash Builder 4 plugin supported?

Two questions:

1) I recently discovered that a new version of eclipse has been released codenamed: Helios. I am wondering if anyone had any issues with installing the latest Flash Builder plugin?

2) Should I run off the 32 bit version of eclipse or can I use the 64 bit version?

    I just installed Eclipse Helios (32bit) and pointed Eclipse to the Flex 4 Builder Plugin via the "links folder" method, no need to reinstall Flash Builder (see http://www.venukb.com/2006/08/20/install-eclipse-plugins-the-easy-way/). Everything works just fine.

    I just tried installing the flash builder 4 plugin  on Eclipse Helios and even though the installation completed successfully, I cannot open the Flash perspective or see anything at all that hints to the plugin being installed.  Normally, when you first start up the ide (before you register your flash builder) you get a Flex prompt and I do not get that either.  My suggestion:  Stick with Galileo until someone says otherwise.

    I'm having the same problem on both Helion and Galile...

    Can someone help me?

    This is the first error, the zip seems to be empty (0KB)....

    Running on Win xp 32bit. The errors are the same between Helion and Galile.

    The Flash builder 4 standalone works fine, just don't want to configure FB4, i have already neatly done in Eclipse...

    @mankin_PT

    That's a very different problem - kloysen reported no error on installation, but is not seeing Flash perspectives available at runtime.

    The installation errors you're describing are sometimes the result of a corrupted installer download. If you re-download the installer and try again, does that same error still happen when trying to unpack the zip file?

    Try this first without a custom copy of eclipse, to make sure that the bundled copy of eclipse gets installed first. After getting that working successfully, you can drop the link file into an alternate copy of eclipse, if you want, as described above.

    I'm pretty sure that you need the 32-bit version.
