I thought I heard somebody mention at Max 2009 that Flash player 10.1 would come with some Flas Text Engine improvements (/new features?) but I cannot find any details about that online. Does anyone (maybe someone from the TLF team?) have more details about what is comming in 10.1 with regards to FTE?

Here are some more details about what's new in FTE in Player 10.There is a big emphasis on reducing memory use, and performance. You can now reuse a TextLine, which makes a significant savings. There is support for inline IME, which allows better text entry for languages like Japanese and Chinese. There are also improvements designed to enable better accessibility and searchability.

Great! I can't wait to get my hands on it

Is their already an (estimaed) release date known for the 10.1 beta (Windows) player and when we can start testing the new FTE features on Flash builder 4 beta?

Best regards, Benny

I don't think the Player team has announced an estimated release date for 10.1... they generally don't do that. But my understanding is that they're working toward a beta release quite soon.
