This forum thread is pretty old, but, Flex running on iPad is becoming a reality. Check out Christophe's blog from today with a video of Flex running on an iPad 2.

    Hi Joan,

Forgive my ignorance, but Christohpe's post is very short on details...

    1) Is this "Hero" we are seeing demonstrated?

    2) If so, will these abilities be in the first release of Flex Hero?

    3) If not, can you provide details on just what it is Adobe is working on here and when it will be available?

    4) This all requires AIR, correct?

    5) The demo shows a Galaxy Tab. Is the Tab running the stock Android 2.2 OS?

    Thanks for any answers.

I'm running an online petition if you want to tell apple you think iPad should have flash

It's a totally pointless petition - as has already been discussed on loads of threads, Apple only wants Flash off the iphone/ipad/iwhatever because Apple makes money from the appstore, not from letting people make apps for free.

Well, they have relented on things in the past, if enough people want

it. They also need the iPad to be a success, and it has by no means a

guaranteed market, Flash is one of the things that will give potential

customers pause, particularly if it is made an issue, so there is

scope, I believe, for a bit of people power in this instance.

I found that, with the new Flash CS5, you can make applications for iPhone (and probably for iPad too), http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashcs5/appsfor_iphone/.

    From that page:

...and the notion of resolution-independent sizing to deal with screen-size variations.

What? How are screen size variations specific to mobile devices? I certainly hope this makes it to vanilla Flex 4.

As I understand, iPad wil not support flash.

To bad, because it looks very interesting.

I just found out that iPad runs iPhone OS that does not support Flash.

If i'm right in thinking, Adobe are currently developing their own version of mobile compatible software, although the name escapes me (could even be just another version of Flash)

But currently no, it isn't supported.

Flash Player 10.1 is Flash Player 10, designed primarily for mobile device use.  And Adobe is getting it on devices by partnering w/ people via the Open Screen Project.

I believe "AIR Mobile" will allow ative app development on devices using Adobe Flash Platform technologies; however as far as I know the only company that has announced for it is the Blackberry folks.

Unfortunately, Apple is not part of the Open Screen Project; and it is not believed that the iPhone browser will support Flash.
