You should try IntelliJ IDEA, it's much faster and stable than Flash Builder. I used FB a lot before but in the lasts years, switched to IntelliJ and I'm never going back!

I Hope that Adobe free design view for Flash builder 4.7 or 4.8 release. The adobe could hear our cry

Forget it. Flash Builder 5, or 4.8 is never going to happen. Design View is gone, as is Flash Builder.

    Move on.

Wow, stop being so delusional... Technologies come and go, Flex's time was like 5 years ago... It's a completely dead technology. Flash Builder wasn't even working properly when Flex was in its prime. Time to learn something new, move on.

HTML/CSS/JS (or the various techs that can transpile to it like Typescript, Elm, etc) is more productive than Flex, work on mobiles and can run circles around Flex in terms of performance (especially flex 4 and its stupidly heavy skin system)

Don't wait for an answer from Adobe... They still try to sell director ( Adobe Director ) but it doesn't mean you should develop things with it. Make your own educated choices instead.

There is still a large AS3 developer base, which has always dwarfed Flex. Personally, IntelliJ is a great IDE for AIR development, and I left Flash Builder in the dust a couple of years ago. Still, it's unfortunate.

I wept as I just uninstalled Flash Builder. We had some great times together, but I had to switch careers as it slowly withered.

Looking at how Fireworks and Director were left to die, I wouldn't could count on an official announcement, rather a slow painful dead.

I just got a subscription for Flash Builder and would like to know if any update is coming ?

I mean Adobe used to be better now it seem's they are not even answering easy questions.
Adobe should update Flash Builder and have export to PS4 , Xbox1 and Wii U to take back the Gaming industry.

It would be a smart move because I am thinking to switching to Unity because of all the exports.

I love AS3 why is nothing happening ? HTML5 is not good ! You need to wrtie CSS HTML Javascript all very it's depressing because you know AS3 can do it all....

Adobe bought Flash for Billion's was king of the web for a decade, it even got upgraded.
Air came out for desktop and mobile APP's. Now they want to focus more on HTML5. Flash get's burned for a lesser and older technology plus the performance is not good.

I wish I could run the place, I would turn it great again with a better focus

I completely agree with you. They need to just change the name from Flash Builder and make it Air Builder CC. Adobe seems like they're abandoning the flash community. I truly hope I'm wrong!

Well here we are in December 2015, and "Flash Professional" is slated to become "Animate CC" early 2016.

So all that work to reinvent the wheel... and they move "Edge"'s features into "Flash".

Probably in the future when we get a JavaScript graphical plugin engine to accelerate and make consistent graphical content across the STILL inconsistent web browsers, then Adobe will be in the perfect position to come out with a new file extension called AAN  (Adobe ANimate)... seeing as (ShockWaveFlash) will no longer be "politically correct".

And aren't we all just loving the explosion of HTML5 graphical interface creativity that we've been seeing the past 4 years...

...gotta love being able to do all those new fangled "rectangular button press" areas on web pages.

Oh and Google did a great job contorting JavaScript into making all the bits of its "Code.org" to teach children how to code.

I wonder how long it would take someone new to start making something equally as good as those programmers at Google...

For that matter, I wonder how many man-woman-pick-your-gender-hours Google spent on that site... I'm sure it was much "faster" than what someone used to do the same with "Flash" technology 5 years ago...?

Oh yeah, this thread was about Flash Builder...

Well don't worry... dBase came back after decades... its now up to version 14.

Maybe IF the Apache project keeps Flex on life-support, some future Adobe board will think... HMM... maybe now is a good time to release Adobe AIR Builder 5.

    Anyways...

When JJ Abrams re-invents and shows people programming LCARS interfaces on the next new Enterprise... I'm sure we'll be seeing their fingers flying as they type in all that JavaScript, flip over to their CSS to handle "some" events, then back to their JS file links in their base HTML files, and all their brilliant hacking to add something new into their LCARS.js framework.  Of course Daystrom probably programmed the ships computer in Node.js... or did he use Hadoop?

It certainly won't be done with any future Flash/Flex technology.

Enough of this... I have to get back to my NON-Flash-based game of SimCity BuildIT that drains the battery on my iPhone faster than Steve Jobs sucked the backbone out of Adobe's management.

ADOBE?????????????? Your customers would really like answers! Are you still supporting Flash Builder? Will there be a newer Flash Builder? Or do you guys not give a damn anymore? The reason i bought my subscription was not for the "art" programs like Photoshop, etc. I bought my subscription for Flash Builder. So i'm paying $50 a month for a program that you guys don't even support anymore??? What a waste of money! Adobe seems to be a company that doesn't care about their customers!

This is indeed ridiculous... Why aren't Adobe saying anything about Flash Builder....If they're releasing new versions of flash pro, and updating the AIR runtime, why aren't they saying anything? How else are we supposed to build large scale projects? Whay isn't there a CC version of FB? Why aren't you releasing some kind of roadmap?  Adobe- you guys are a joke.

Let's face it, the new version will never be available. If you are not happy with Flash Builder 4.7, try IntelliJ IDEA.

Interesting. You can build AIR applications and swf files with IntelliJ IDEA? I did quick research and it seems that you can code JavaScript and web stuff but I saw no sign of AS3 at all...

    April 10, 2015

Adobe has completely abandoned Flex/Flash community. Flash builder 4.7 doesn't have the design view for flex. And there has not been any update on Flash Builder for past 2 to 3 years. Steve Jobs, did what he does, but Adobe stopped believing in this powerful technology, due to which is dying now.

What a comment! Seriously? First, Adobe did not "abandoned" Flex/Flash, they gave Flex to the open community. Second, Flash is not part of that deal since they still develop Flash Pro and are still actively developing Flash Player and AIR for desktop and mobiles (AIR). So, we know that there is no other version of FB coming with Flex, fine. But the question here is about Flash Builder for ActionScript development. Flash Pro is fine but is not intended for big coding project, more for animation and illustration. Flash Builder is (was) the product of choice for that end and I think it still have some place in the developers community as a new version would be great for all of them (me included).

    April 8, 2015

I cannot understand how is it possible this so obvious advanced development product as Flash with conjunction with Flash Builder to be abandoned!

It is more than stupidity rather than logical decision!!!

Even when the opponents of Flash caught CPU in their left hand are carrying about the mystic CPU load will admit :

The Flash is Supreme for the New Digital FX Generation!

    So, people,

    let come together!

    Let be united!

And if Adobe will acts like a blind men let give to us the Flash/Flex community the full open source of this ultimate irreplaceable products and we will do the impossible - To bring the glory of it!
