"An Error occurred Opening the packaged file"

Once we updated to the 2019 software of InCopy and InDesign this problem arose. Our copy writer keeps getting this message when opening our icaps in InCopy. We are packaging the files no differently than in the 2018 software and have never had this problem before. Is this a bug in the system? Or is there a different way to do this in the 2019 software? WHAT'S HAPPENING! ahhH!!!

I found this plugin from Adobe that fixed the issue for me.

Did the writer upgrade to CC2019?

BTW, this is a workflow that I no longer recommend. Copy everything to a Dropbox folder and sharing it amongst those working on the project is far more reliable and way easier.

Hi Bob, i have exactly the same problem. Both ID and IC on latest 2019 version. As long as the function is available i expect to have it working properly. Many of our (and i guess a lot other companies) projects use the offline package process and we’re getting in big trouble now. One reason not to use cloud storage like Dropbox is that our customers are not allowed to use cloud storage solutions.
