Find/Change function stopped working

For no reason at all that I can ascertain, the Find/Change function on my InCopy stopped working. I've tried every way: keyboard shortcut (my usual), the "magnifying glass" icon, the EDIT>FIND/CHANGE manual command, nothing. I've tried shutting down/restarting the application; rebooting my Mac, nothing. I imagine I might have to uninstall/reinstall the software, which I'd prefer not to do, since that would kill my preferences. If that's the only solution, so be it, but hoping someone has an easier fix?
