Font glyphs aren't popping in

Hi there, community!

I've downloaded a fun font with loads of glyphs with alternate letters, to make a nice logo. 

I can SEE the glyph alternates in the panel, but when I double click on them, either nothing happens or the 'normal' letter is pasted in text. 

The default language is Dutch, but I have set the text preferences to US English. So that shouldn't be the problem...
