How do I use InCopy without owning InDesign?

I edit/proofread for a friend who writes in InDesign. I subscribed to InCopy to do so, but I can't see how to open it--or the InDesign file he sent me.

Help!  Thanks.

You have to install InCopy before you can use it.

First install the CC Desktop app and then log in using your Adobe ID and password. From there you’ll be able to install InCopy.

Computer asks what to open it with (I do not own the Adobe package) and nothing I have will open it.
