InCopy: 2019 and 2020: Object is Locked and crash (URGENT!)

Opening a Package in InCopy from different clients (that added a Layer to a Assignment) or the .icma file results in many "Object is Locked" messages and after that InCopy crashes.
We can repeat this over and over with different documents.
Nothing is locked, no Layer is Locked.
Thought I ask here as it is hell today for us..
Any thoughts???

    Fixed. They said they exported text, but they exported a layer added to an Assignment. And that layer had EPS files with % and + characters in the name!
    Changing the name and moving them to another layer fixed it.
