InCopy and InDesign issues with assignments

Hello everyone, I have some issues with InCopy and InDesign.
The editors use the InCopy to wirte their texts and therefore send them back to me as .idap as to open them on InDesign and finish the magazine I am designing.
I have some issues though when I am trying to open the idap a message pops up on InDesign saying that the Selected package file requires an indesign document that cannot be found. how do you want to continue? I have two options: browse or ignore. I proceed with browse, i found the missing package and then I get another error message saying: The story bla bla bla.icml in the package file is no longer part of the assignment. how do you want to continue?   Ignore or save?
I've tried both ingore or save and still i get no results. I get a blank page.

What have happened? Did the user on InCopy not packaged the icap? Or what?
I need your help ASAP!

Thank you!

More information on your workflow, step by step is needed.

Where does it start? With you or with them?

FWIW, I do not recommend the use of assignments except with very large workgroups. There's no need here. Package everything into a Dropbox or Onedrive folder and share it among all participants. InCopy users can open the INDD file and check out InCopy content there.

If the writers are actually starting by creating content with InCopy they should be doing so by saving as ICML. You can then place those files in the InDesign layout.

    Thank you Bob.
I had no idea they could save it as ICML instead of packaging it and sending it as ICAP.

But frankly, I don't know where the issue begin. I had some issues from ID to IC and vice versa.
We will try with ICML files. I hope it works this time.
