Incopy CS6 and Latest Indesign

I have incopy CS6 and am working on a project with a designer who has a current subscription. I haven't used my incopy for three years, but it did open when I tried it.  It seems to be working with her layouts, but when it first opens, I get the message that "Incopy might be damaged. Please re-install." Then it opens, though it's not allowing me to add notes to the file. Any advice? Am I doing some damage to the files that we don't know about? Thank you.

That is not a safe workflow at all.

A subscription to InCopy only is $5/month on an annual basis.
