InCopy file reverts to older saved version

Hi all, we're having an InCopy (and InDesign too) issue. We work on a server and save all of our files to that server. Recently, one of our editors finished editing a file and when the second editor went to open it, the file had reverted back to a previous version, resulting in a lot of work lost. This has happened before and has happened with InDesign Assignment files. Any idea what might be the case? Server issue? Incopy issue? We're all on the most recent version of InCopy (16.0.1).

We're at a loss and a lot of time has been wasted trying to recover or redo the work.

We need more details on your workflow. Is everyone on the same InDesign/InCopy version? Are you on a local server or using a cloud service such as Dropbox or OneDrive? Are you truly using assignments or opening the INDD files? There's really no need for assignments with small workgroups so if you're using them, stop and use INDD instead.

Yes, everyone is using the same version. And we're using a local server.

The editors work in InCopy and save those to one directory on the server. Once the editors are done, the files are sent to the graphics team and they create the assignment files in InDesign (in a different directory on the server). Once the assignment files are created, all updates to the document are done to the assignment files.

The editors do their edits separately, in InCopy, and save those on the local server. The issue we had was in InCopy before the file became an assignment file.
