InDesign to InCopy workflow, random hyperlinks being removed

My team upgraded to InDesign 19.5 to create the layout and our Editorial team uses InCopy to make changes to the text. When they make their changes are complete, our team adjusts the layout and we generate a new PDF.

Late last week we have discovered that some of the hyperlinks and anchors within the document suddenly no longer work when they come back from InCopy updates. It's frustrating as it's randomly happening to only some of the links, and they continue to maintain the hyperklink style so we cannot just verify by glancing at the PDF.

When I look at the text in InDesign, the text that was previously hyperlinked does not allow for a new hyperlink to be added. I have to remove the whole text and add the text again.

Is this a new issue? Should we be rolling back to a previous version?

Bumping this up! Would love to see this issue resolved. I detailed my own challenges with this in the InCopy forum.

Wishing for an holiday miracle and a new year sans bugs.

@Pamela5CDF @kookywawa There is an old InDesign bug reported in the InDesign UserVoice forum. I posted and voted in hopes that it helps. Please do the same if you're still having problems. https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/31117003-cc-15-17-all-hyperlinks-missing-removed-after-ro

@Pamela5CDF Did you ever find a resolution to your issue? My team has been experiencing the same thing for months and by chance I found your post today. Here is a link to my post in the InDesign forum: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/hyperlinks-disappearing-in-indesign/m-p/14997086#M598732

Sadly, no I have not found a solution yet and have had limited time this fall to attempt another call with customer service. The proposed solution when I called CS in November was to export the document as a package and that the links would all be saved. Unfortunatly that is not the case for hyperlinks. As we have had to keep working on our documents we have come to a work around of not including hyperlinks in the document until the end of the process  where we disconnect the linked files from InCopy. Quite a bummer and a huge pain as this was a feature we used prior to the upgrade.
Ill go in and give a vote I would really appreciate that this bug be fixed as it's an integral part of how we were able to sell InDesign and InCopy workflow.

My team is experiencing the same issue with random links missing after the editors make changes in InCopy. Is this a known issue? Was this happening in the previous versions?

Thank you Dixiecricket for confirming that this issue is happening to you also. When I called the Help desk they said I was the first to report and they had not heard of this issue before. I do not recall having this type of issue prior to 19.5, and when I asked if we should upgrade to 20.0 I was encouraged not to. We have asked to roll back to 18.6 but that version has been removed from Creative Cloud.

The agent recommended that I "Package" the document in InDesign to share, and the folder with the links is created. I have tried this, but it's only the images that are in the Links folder, not a list of all the hyperlinks that are within the document.
My team have had to take some drastic measures due to this bug. We have decided to only add in the Hyperlinks, anchors and ALT text at the end when the editors are done as any of these elements can be affected when we import back from InCopy to InDesign.

Thanks Pamela. Yes, we too, in the interim, will only add the hyperlinks at the end of process. But not idea, as sometimes text varies and things more around, making it difficult to see where the hyperlink goes...although, I think for now we will highlight them in the text, so we can see where they, are at all times. I will reach out to Adobe help as well, to make them aware that others are experiencing the same issue.
