Is there a way to integrate InCopy with Illustrator?

We've tried using InCopy with InDesign with our writers and it saved us so much time, but we also create a lot of assets which are charts-and-illustration-heavy in Illustrator, that also have a lot of copy. So I'm wondering if there's a way to use InCopy with Illustrator? 

If not, is there an alternative other than InCopy that works with Illustrator?
