Packaged file will not open in IC 14.0

I'm running macOS High Sierra on my desktop machine. I upgraded and installed InDesign 14.0 and InCopy 14.0, and this is my first experience with the upgrades.

I exported styled text in InDesign as an InCopy Document (.icml). Created an assignment (.icap), attaching the InCopy Document. This is what I've done for years, and it has always worked.

When I attempt to open the .icap in InCopy, I immediately get the error message "An error occurred opening the package file." I tried the process again, same result.

I'm also running the same macOS on my laptop, but haven't yet upgraded to InDesign 14.0 and InCopy 14.0. Emailed myself the .icap file created on my desktop in InDesign 14.0, and it opened immediately on my laptop.

Back on my desktop, I reinstalled InCopy 13.1, and the .icap created in InDesign 14.0 opened right away.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem with InCopy 14.0?

Is this a bug in InCopy 14.0?

It might be but I have to ask, why are you using this? With the advent of shared folders with Dropbox, Onedrive and gDrive, I can’t possibly see any use for it anymore.

By "this" do you mean packaged assignments? I use them because my copyeditors can see and correct bad breaks, cut to space, and generally observe the layout at early stages of production without touching the ID file. If I send them the IC doc, Galley view and Layout view are irrelevant.

I meant using packages. It’s far better and easier to put everything, including the InCopy content into a shared Dropbox or Onedrive folder and work that way.

They can then open the INDD file directly in InCopy and do the edits, check everything back in and you’ll see it all in real time without being bothered with packages.
