Spaltenbreiten in Tabellen verändern sich beim Öffnen der .icma-Dateien

Moin; mein Kunde und ich nutzen seit vielen Jahren den Incopy/Indesign-Austausch. Seit ein paar Tagen habe ich das Problem, dass sich die erste Spaltenbreite der vorhandenen Tabellen ändert, sobald die .icma-Datei in incopy geöffnet wird. Die Spaltenbreiten sind in Indesign fest definiert (erste Spalte 21,8 mm) - nach dem Öffnen in Incopy ist sie nur noch 14,111 mm breit. Manchmal (aber nicht immer) wird die falsche Spaltenbreite auch ins Indesign-Dokument übernommen, sobald die Aufgaben aktualisiert sind. Dadurch zerschießt sich unser komplettes Layout

Thanks for your patience. I have an update from the product team.

The issue with the first table column width changing during the InCopy/InDesign workflow has been identified, and a fix is available for testing in the InDesign/InCopy 21.6 prerelease.

If you have access to the prerelease builds, please install the latest 21.6 build from the Prerelease tab in the Creative Cloud desktop app and test the same workflow. Please let us know whether the column widths are retained correctly.

Does this happen when opening the InDesign file directly in InCopy instead of the ICMA?

I’ve been using InCopy and InDesign for a couple years. Recent updates (past month) to InCopy and InDesign have messed with our table setup. Whenever the person uses InCopy and pastes their information from Excel into the table, it messes with the size of the table and shortens the columns. This creates a major headache as we then have to fix the tables in InDesign every time that table gets updated in InCopy. We have tried making the table have “Exactly” measurements instead of “At least” but we have no other idea what the solution could be to this bug.

This has never happened before, we’ve been using InCopy for several years now. We do not experience this issue when copying from Excel directly to InDesign.

To add, we’ve also experienced opening up the InCopy .icma file and the table is already messed up even though our InDesign file shows it as we designed it.

Thanks for sharing the details. I'm checking this with the product team to better understand the behavior and confirm whether this change is expected or an issue.

In the meantime, could you please share a short screen recording demonstrating the problem, showing the table and column width in InDesign first, and then the same table in InCopy after opening/updating the assignment? Please also confirm your exact InDesign and InCopy versions.

Additionally, if possible, please test the same workflow in the latest 21.6 Beta build, available through Creative Cloud Desktop > All Apps > Beta, and let us know whether the issue persists there as well.

This will help us verify the behavior and investigate it further.

Hi Abishek, in order to get my work done somehow, I downgraded InDesign and InCopy to version 21.4. I am trying to attach an excerpt of the file—this allowed me to consistently reproduce the issue with versions 21.5.1. As soon as I checked a table out and back in within InCopy, the first column in InDesign would shrink to 14.111 mm, regardless of whether it contained text or was empty. Thanks for your help. Instead of ICMA, try opening the INDD file directly in InCopy.

Hi Bob, ich kann die indd-Dateien in incopy öffnen und alles sieht gut aus:-) Wenn ich die Datei dann wieder in Indesign öffne und die Aufgaben aktualisiere, ist die Tabelle wieder verändert - erste Spalte = 14,111 mm. Gerade habe ich eine ältere Incopy-Version installiert (Mac/21.4) - damit funktioniert es. Leider hat mein Kunde die neueste, offensichtlich fehlerhafte Version von Incopy installiert und weiß nicht, wie er downgraden kann.

Is the table a native InDesign table or is it linked to an external source such as Excel?
