Advice on a good setup for Live HD broadcast

Hello All,

I have a task before me that I have not spent any time researching in the past because I never thought I would have to do it... I need some specific advice from some of you gurus out there.

I need to set up a training facility in which we film a teacher in HD and broadcast it live across the internet to 30 locations around town. I also need to have a live chat going with the video in which any of the viewers can ask a question to the teacher and he/she can answer it in the lecture being given.

The 30 locations that the viewers will be at will be a board room setting with an HDTV on the wall , and maybe a wireless keyboard and mouse that they can share to chat with the teacher.

I know I can quickly figure out all of the video stuff, like lighting and cameras. I really need advice on all of the technical stuff that it takes for the live broadcast on the internet.

I imagine that I will choose a content delivery network, but which one? I imagine that I will use Flash Media Server, but which version? Do I need a real time transoding device to feed the analog HD video signals to to feed it to the computer? The company has T1, is it fast enough on the uploading to get what we need done? Somebody educate me on the subjuct here and help me make the best decisions for the project.

Much appreciated,

Drew

    Thanks, SE,

I am in the Dallas area.. This gives me some direction for my research.. There are too many options out there and I found myself getting bogged down reading about everything.

I imagine that I will choose a content delivery network, but which one?

    - I think that would depend upon your geographic location - you can choose CDN which has good presence in your region. If you are having difficulty in knowing which one is good in your region - please tell me your geo-location - may be i can ask someone to help you out on this.

I imagine that I will use Flash Media Server, but which version?

    - Best would be latest one - FMS 4.0.1 - but if you are using CDN and their server - may be you want to check which version of FMS they have deployed as all CDN's might not have rolled out new FMS deployments

Do I need a real time transoding device to feed the analog HD video signals to to feed it to the computer?

    - You would have use Encoder which would take feed from your HD Camera's and then publish the encoded content to FMS. You can FMLE for this purpose - but I am not expert on encoding - may be it would be nice to post this specific query on FMLE forum here : - http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_media_live_encoder

The company has T1, is it fast enough on the uploading to get what we need done?

You can use below links to get more details about your bandwidth requirements:

I know i have not given detailed answer - but at least it gives you some direction - hoping my answers were helpful
