Apps only work from localhost

I installed the sample applications from the FMS webpage and they work fine when I access them through my web browser on the local machine. But I can't seem to connect to the applications correctly when I use a different computer and reference the server by IP. I can access the swf file just fine, but I dont seem to be able to connect to the server.

For instance the guestbook application has a Connected or "Not connected" icon in the corner and it always says "Not Connected". Or if I try the survey application, not surveys are populated in the drop down menu. LIke i said though everything works from when im on my local machine.

does anyone know what the problem could be?
