Backup Multicast Servers

We have multiple multicast servers . I want to rollback from one multicast server to another when a failure occurs . We are using IP Multicast , Is there any way to know when a multicat stream fails ? Which status will I be getting when a stream fails ?  I think there is no way to detect when an IP Multicast stream fails ?
