Hi all,

I would like to know how bandwidth detection works in FMS? Does it downloading something or what? Does FMS is using rtmp or http protocol to check it?

thanks a lot.

The mechanism of native bandwidth detection isn't exposed to public, but this might give u a deeper insight into workflow: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashcom/articles/flvideo_bandwidth.html

thanks for link. I have found something this http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/dynamic_stream_switching_04.html There is no explaination how it works, but there is a picture showing all steps.

If it is not exposed to public, how can I be sure that it works fine? How can I be sure that there are only functions testing bandwidth?

It does work and its easy to use, just like origin/edge configuration. Dynamic streaming is something different in a sense that it polls the network condition and based on that switches to the corresponding stream according to config. If u r affraid of the truth regarding the bw detection the have your app do it at a set interval to know your clients are at network conditions u expect.
